Deliver Us from Kony

Calvary Chapel Jupiter has partnered with Far Reaching Ministries in several different ways over the past few years. We've sent small teams of guys over to train chaplains in the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) and my family has worked in Southern Sudan and Northern Uganda. We had to equip ourselves to deal with many natural and political hardships. The Lord's Resistance Army was one of them.

Christianity Today has a great article about the LRA and some of the people working to relieve suffering both physically and spiritually.

Sixty years after Allied soldiers liberated the Nazi death camps, the world stands silent in the face of another holocaust—one so horrifying that U.N. officials call it "one of the worst human-rights crises of the past century."

The perpetrators commit atrocities with such malevolence that even the most irreligious people familiar with their acts describe them as "unrestrained evil." The targets of the butchery are children. They rape, mutilate, and kill them with a rapaciousness that staggers the imagination. It's so easy for us "Christians" to get caught up in what is happening here and now. It's amazing to me when I read something like this and actually think about the consequences of being a believer. Great article.
